PAST CONTINUOUS

We use “Were+ing’’ form verb with you/we/they/plural nouns and ‘’Was+ing’’ form verb with he/she/it/singular noun to talk about an action that was going on at a particular time in the past



  Positive Sentences: You/We/They/Plural Noun + ‘’Were +ing form verb’’

                                  He/She/It/I/Singular Noun + “Was +ing form verb”

                                  You were playing tennis at 10 0’clock yesterday morning
                                   They were watching TV at this time yesterday
                                    We were reading at that time
                                     My friends were washing clothes at 7 0’clock yesterday evening
                                    
                                      He was writing a letter at that time last night
                                      She was cooking at 1pm yesterday afternoon
                                      It was barking at the gate at 10pm last night
                                      I was drinking a cup of tea at that time last Sunday
                                      The boy was playing the guitar at 12 noon the day before yesterday.


Negative Sentences:    You/We/They/Plural Noun + ‘’Were not +ing form verb’’

                                      He/She/It/I/Singular Noun + “Was not  +ing form verb”

                                      You were not  playing tennis at 10 0’clock yesterday morning
                                       They were not  watching TV at this time yesterday
                                       We were not  reading at that time
                                        My friends were not  washing clothes at 7 0’clock yesterday evening
                                    
                                      He was not writing a letter at that time last night
